It has just been revealed that Jaguar Land Rover will be opening a new factory in the city of Nitra in western Slovakia.
The factory is set to create 2800 new jobs in the area, which is great news for the locals.
Construction will begin in 2016 with JLR is planning to invest £1 billion in the factory, which is scheduled to open in 2018.
It is believed that the factory will be capable of producing 150,000 vehicles per year however the company is confident that the figure could double to 300,000 over time.
If everything goes as planned and the factory is able to produce as many vehicles as JLR is hoping, it could help bring the company’s global output closer to 800,000 vehicles a year.
Jaguar Land Rover will be the first British carmaker to open a factory in the country. The company however wants it to be clear that the heart of its brand will remain in the UK.
The company recently announced that it would be making a return to racing, with plans to enter Formula E next year. It has also been revealed that Jaguar is currently working on a new electric car, which is scheduled to be revealed at some point next year.
It’s pretty clear that Jaguar is doing very well at the moment, showing no signs of slowing down. We can’t wait to see what the company has in store for us in the future however looking at the brand’s past projects we are sure it’s going to be spectacular and awesome.
