Recent figures released by the AA shed a light on an increasing problem – the cost of car insurance in Manchester. Although we are used to paying a lot for car insurance, many of us accept it as part of life. After all, there isn’t much you can do, especially if you’re just starting out with your very first car.
Costs of car insurances have been criticized by many over the years; however, recent figures have brought a new issue to light. According to AA, Manchester has the highest premiums in the UK outside of London. That’s right, only the capital of our country sees larger figures.
This is shocking news that will likely frustrate and anger many drivers currently on our roads. Young drivers are already struggling to pay for their vehilces, so fining out that they are paying more than the majority of the country won’t be taken lightly.
According to figures released by the AA, the average cost of premiums in Manchester comes to about £1,330; whereas, places like Isle of Man only pay £267 on average.
These staggering figures show just how ridiculous costs of car insurance have become over the years. Young drivers in particular are affected the most, paying the most for their vehilces out of any other age group.
Since car insurance costs are calculated based upon the numbers of claims in a particular area, it’s clear to see where the problem lies.
In order to tackle the high insurance costs, something would have to be done about the level of crime and accidents happening in the Manchester area, which is likely not going to happen any time soon.
For now it appears that we are stuck with ridiculously high insurance premiums, so unless the government does something to tackle this, we will be stuck paying for other people’s mistakes.
